10 Days in Spain: A Solo Adventure Through Barcelona, Granada, Córdoba, Seville & Madrid

Last October (2024), I embarked on an unforgettable 10-day solo trip through Spain, and I’m excited to share the highlights with you! From Gaudí’s architectural wonders in Barcelona to the Moorish charm of Granada and the vibrant energy of Madrid, this journey was a perfect blend of history, culture, and relaxation—all without needing a car. Here’s how I made the most of my time in Spain:

Barcelona: Art, Architecture & Tapas

My adventure began in Barcelona, where I explored Gaudí’s masterpieces like Casa Batlló, Casa Milà, and the iconic Sagrada Família. A walking tour through the Gothic Quarter revealed the city’s rich history, ending at the stunning Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar. And of course, no visit to Barcelona is complete without indulging in tapas at El Nacional!

Granada: The Magic of the Alhambra

Next, I took a high-speed train to Granada, home to the breathtaking Alhambra. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its intricate palaces and lush gardens, left me speechless. I also wandered through the Albaicín and Sacromonte neighbourhoods, soaking in their whitewashed charm and vibrant flamenco culture.

Córdoba & Seville: A Journey Through History

In Córdoba, I marvelled at the Mosque-Cathedral, a stunning blend of Islamic and Christian architecture. Then, it was off to Seville, where I explored the grand Catedral de Sevilla, the lush Royal Alcázar, the historic Archivo de Indias and the grand Plaza de España. Each city offered a unique glimpse into Spain’s rich past.

Madrid: A Royal Finale

My trip ended in Madrid, where I joined a walking tour of its iconic squares and neighbourhoods. A visit to the opulent Royal Palace of Madrid was the perfect way to wrap up my Spanish adventure.
